About the Hackathon
# Introduction
The **Polkadot Solidity Hackathon** is the **first Solidity hackathon on Polkadot**—a 6-week online program designed to celebrate Solidity coming to Polkadot and accelerate the next generation of smart contract builders.
From **Feb 15 to Mar 24, 2026**, developers across APAC will turn ideas into **production-ready dApps** on **Polkadot Hub**, shipping with **EVM Smart Contracts** and **PVM Smart Contracts**—backed by shared security and seamless cross-chain capabilities.
**About Polkadot Hub**
**Polkadot Hub -** a dedicated, unified chain that enables permissionless smart contract deployment and is EVM-compatible, allowing developers to deploy Solidity smart contracts directly on Polkadot for the first time. It consolidates core system functions—DOT token, staking, governance, bridges—into one streamlined environment.
Your application on Polkadot Hub can:
- Communicate seamlessly with existing parachains
- Bridge and interact with other EVM-compatible chains
- Leverage XCM (Cross-Consensus Messaging) as a native feature, not an afterthought
- Build once, and scale everywhere—across the Polkadot ecosystem and beyond
# Organization
This hackathon is co-led by **OpenGuild and Web3 Foundation (W3F),** with support from Polkadot ecosystem partners, regional community leaders, and global accelerators.
- **OpenGuild** is a Web3 builder-driven community dedicated to growing the Polkadot ecosystem. We discover, connect, and empower talent to become active contributors—creating real value, impactful products, and a strong builder culture across Asia and beyond. Our focus is on supporting builders and organizations seeking a deep, practical understanding of the Polkadot blockchain, through **curated learning resources, hands-on programs, and engaging community events**.

- **Web3 Foundation** supports the development of a decentralized internet where users retain control over their data and digital identity. Primary projects include Polkadot and Kusama. W3F supports the hackathon by guiding technical direction, ecosystem alignment, and grant-based pathways for high-quality projects building on Polkadot Hub.

- **Polkadot** is a next-generation blockchain protocol designed to support a multi-chain future by enabling secure communication and interoperability between different blockchains. Built as a Layer-0 protocol, Polkadot introduces innovations like application-specific Layer-1 chains (parachains), shared security through Nominated Proof of Stake (NPoS), and cross-chain interactions via its native Cross-Consensus Messaging Format (XCM).
