About the Hackathon
# Stacks Builders Competition
Welcome to the first, **Stacks Builders Challenge.** This is an online, 1-month builder competition dedicated to activating the Bitcoin economy through the power of the Stacks ecosystem! Spanning from **August 7th to September 12th,** this competition aims to empower global builders to create impactful, open-source solutions that expand Bitcoin utility using Stacks. Specifically, [sBTC](https://www.stacks.co/sbtc).
**Positioning:** This event brings together developers to prototype, build, and launch products that extend the Bitcoin economy by building an sBTC Payment Gateway.
# The Challenge
## **Build an sBTC Payment Gateway**
**Your challenge:** Build an MVP that lets businesses easily accept Bitcoin payments via sBTC on Stacks. The goal is a seamless, low-friction payment gateway - think “Stripe for sBTC.”
We’re looking for a solution that’s simple to integrate, smooth to use, and reliable for handling sBTC transactions. Focus on clean developer experience, fast setup, and a user-friendly flow for merchants and customers alike.
## How It Works
This competition is simple. Build an MVP of the sBTC payment gateway, and the best submission wins $3,000. The goal here is to make a simple solution for developers and businesses to accept payments with sBTC. Keep the DX and UX of Stripe in mind as the goal.
**High-level goal:** Make accepting payments with sBTC as simple as traditional payments. The specifics of how you do that are up to you to decide.
## Requirement
- **Working MVP**: Must process actual sBTC testnet transactions
## Suggested Optional Upgrades
The following features are optional, but implementing them well with great UX will earn bonus points. Note that the primary criterion is the working MVP. More features won’t make up for a poor foundational experience.
If you had to choose between adding more or doing less but doing it better, do less but better.
- **Integration Options**: API, embeddable widgets, or payment links
- **Merchant Dashboard**: Basic interface to manage payments
- **Documentation**: Clear integration guide for developers
- **Subscription functionality**
- **sBTC to USD conversion**
- **Drop-in widgets**
# **Prize Pool**
Compete for a prize of **$3,000 (in STX tokens)**. This is a winner-take-all competition.
