The **NWC Software and Hardware Grant** is designed to support open-source developers building sovereign financial tools powered by Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC), a communication protocol enabling secure Lightning payments and interactions between apps and wallets. This grant round recognizes that **both small and large projects deserve visibility and support**.
The initiative will provide educational livestreams, remote workshops, pitch sessions, and direct funding through a tiered reward system. Participants will benefit from technical and community support while showcasing their work to the broader Bitcoin and Nostr ecosystems.
This grant was created to foster experimentation at the intersection of Bitcoin, Lightning, and Nostr. By supporting software and hardware projects—whether it's a new mobile client, IoT devices, or tooling library—**we’re seeding the next generation of freedom tech**.
The grants will be allocated across two Tracks: **New NWC apps** and **Mature NWC apps (must be unfunded)**. Whether you’re a seasoned builder or just starting out with vibe-coding, this is your chance to make an impact with NWC.
Funds go directly to the project owners, distributed by Geyser.
The **$10,000 pool** will be split across the two tracks—**New NWC Apps** and **Mature NWC Apps**—with **2 to 4 winners** per track, depending on project quality and impact.
Projects will be judged based on their application and Geyser project page:
- **Impact** – Does it solve a real NWC-related problem? How meaningful is the potential outcome?
- **Need** – Is the problem serious, and is funding aligned with the solution?
- **Proof of Work** – Does the builder have a track record or reputation to uphold?
- **Bonus** – Is it gaining traction or showing that special spark?
