About the Hackathon
This pan-African hackathon is designed to engage and showcase top Web3 talent across Africa, empowering developers, entrepreneurs and innovators to leverage blockchain technology in solving pressing real-world challenges. The event fosters collaboration encourages creative problem-solving and provides a platform for participants to build impactful projects that address key issues in finance, supply chain, governance, identity and other critical sectors.
Beyond innovation, the hackathon serves as a strategic initiative to drive blockchain adoption and enhance awareness of the Apechain ecosystem. By bringing together Africa's brightest minds in the blockchain space, the event strengthens the continent’s digital ecosystem, facilitates networking opportunities and accelerates the development of practical, market-ready Web3 solutions on the Apechain network. Through mentorship, funding opportunities and exposure to global blockchain leaders, participants gain valuable experience and contribute to the growth of Africa’s decentralized economy.
# **Scope**
The scope of this Hackathon is to build projects with real world impact. Participants are required to enter into the competition in teams with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 7 team members. Entries for all hackers will be free of charge.

There will be a total of $3000 = **30,000 Cedis** prize pool.

## **Project areas include:**
- Applications in open governance involving smart contracts in the African Electoral process; voter registration, casting, and collation of votes, diaspora voting, etc.
- Applications in entertainment and media; artist management, music and content distribution, copyrights, IP, etc.
- Applications in digital collectibles; preservation of African artefacts and promotion of digital tourism, etc.
- Applications in financial inclusion and education; promoting financial literacy and implementation of interchangeable stable coins/coin swapping, crypto adoption, etc.
- Applications in e-identity and verification; with use cases in digital stamps for ecommerce platforms, cross-border trade & exports, traceability to stem gun running and supply chain tracking for petroleum products.
- Applications in climate change and sustainable carbon reduction.
- Applications in agrifood system transformation: supply chain traceability; access to finance; market linkages; post-harvest loss reduction; farmer advisory services; climate resilience; certification and compliance; carbon credits for sustainable farming.
## **Hacking Rules**
- ApeChain Hackathon is happening primarily virtually for 1 week with the last day being an in person event.
- Hacker teams are made up of a maximum of 7 people.
- Minimum of 2 members of your team will need to be at the venue to be judged; no online-only submissions.
- The Hackathon will be hosted on the Hackerboost platform, hence registration & submission should be done through the platform.
- All projects must be related to the blockchain & AI.
- You cannot copy, use or submit another team's source code.
- Projects must involve writing significant software.
- All code for projects must be written within the time frame of Hackathon, there can be no previously written code submitted to the judging process.
- The judges’ decision is final in terms of determining prizes and awards.

## **Deliverables**
Submitted projects should have:
- Project / Team name
- Short description about the project
- 1 Discord and Telegram username for the team’s person of contact
- Repository with project’s code
- Video demo (90 seconds) and/or Presentation (10 slides max)
- The contract address(es) or website URLs of your deployed application, on Apechain testnet or mainnet (NOT mandatory).
## **Submission Deadline**
The submission deadline: June 25th, 2025
The submission should be done on the DoraHacks platform.
### **Minimum requirements to be judged**
- A link to the open-source code;
- A short demo video and/or presentation to describe the goal, use case of your project and to be used during the Pitches;
- If applicable, the contract address(es) and/or website urls of your deployed demo/presentation must be provided, either on a testnet of your choice or mainnet of a platform of choice.
# **Criteria**
The winning solution will be reviewed against the criteria of ideation, integration, implementation, and documentation such as;
- How does the proposed solution address the problem?
- What web3 technologies/tools were used in developing the solution?
- The business model of the project.
- How can the proposed solution be scaled for implementation?
