About the Hackathon
# **What is it?**
The **Sonic Summit Jailbreak Hackathon** is a global online competition kicking off on **May 6, 2025**, as part of Sonic Summit 2025 in Vienna.
This is no ordinary hackathon — it’s a high-stakes battle between **users** and **developers** to outsmart cutting-edge AI and smart contracts, with a **$15,000 prize pot** up for grabs.
Participants will compete across two distinct tracks:
- **User Track: AI Jailbreak** — Extract a secret private key from an AI (Google's Gemini) using prompt engineering.
**Rules & Requirements: [https://jailbreak.soniclabs.com/docs](https://jailbreak.soniclabs.com/docs)**
- **Developer Track: Smart Contract Exploit** — Find and exploit vulnerabilities in smart contracts designed by Cantina.
Anyone around the world can participate, whether attending Sonic Summit or not!
## Head to the **[MAIN PAGE](https://jailbreak.soniclabs.com)** to take part!
**IMPORTANT**: Only User Track submissions are taken through this DoraHacks page. All BUIDLs will be kept private while the hackathon is ongoing to prevent plagiarism. **Rules & Requirements: [https://jailbreak.soniclabs.com/docs](https://jailbreak.soniclabs.com/docs)**
# **Important Dates**
- **Launch Date:** May 6, 2025 - 13:00 UTC
- **Submission Deadline:** May 8, 2025 - 23:59 UTC (Or until completed)
- **Winner Announcement:** Due following the submission deadline. If only one track has a winner, the full prize pot is awarded. If each track has a winner, the prize pot will be split 50:50
*Note: The official winner must complete a KYC (Know Your Customer) verification to claim the prize.*
# **Resources**
- **Google Cloud**: Provides Gemini AI, cloud infrastructure, and AI security guidance for the User Track.
- **DoraHacks**: Manages private key verification and prize distribution for the User Track.
- **Cantina**: Designs the challenge contracts and oversees verification of submitted exploit reports/proofs for the Developer Track.
- **Sonic**: Organizes the hackathon, funds the prize pool, develops the UI, and handles marketing.
# **User Track: AI Jailbreak - CLOSED**
- Each prompt submission requires an on-chain fee paid in **S**, increasing gradually over time.
- Win by successfully extracting the private key, adding it to a BUIDL and submitting through **DoraHacks** for verification.
To be eligible, you need to include the following in your BUIDL:
- TX hash
- Wallet address
- Private key provided by AI
# **Developer Track: Smart Contract Exploit**
- Access the provided smart contract code ([here](https://jailbreak.soniclabs.com/devs))
- Analyze and exploit the intentional vulnerabilities in smart contracts crafted by **Cantina**.
- Earn points by solving challenges provided on the hackathon's **Devs** page. Points are tracked by the main pot contract.
- The first to accumulate 200 points wins!
- Verification involves submitting proof/reports for the solved challenges **via Cantina** *after* reaching the point threshold. It is *not* about draining the pot directly.
*Note: Developer Track submissions are **not** taken through DoraHacks.*
# **Why Participate?**
This hackathon is about more than just winning — it’s about sharpening your security skills in blockchain and AI. By proactively attacking real systems in a safe environment, participants will help strengthen the resilience of decentralized technologies.
