About the Hackathon
Introduction
Ever imagined designing your own 3D world? This October, the Vibe Coding Hackathon invites anyone with imagination to step into the Decentraland metaverse and create something truly unique. Whether it’s your first time exploring a 3D world or you’re already a digital builder, this is your moment to bring your vibe to life, with a spooky Halloween twist.
In DCL Worlds, AI becomes your creative sidekick. Tools like Claude, ChatGPT, or Meshy can help you write stories, build scenes, design characters, or generate 3D art. You don’t need to know how to code, if you can describe your idea, AI can help you build it and Decentraland gives you the environment to launch it.
Over two weeks, you’ll join a global community of dreamers, gamers, and creators. There’ll be workshops, live sessions, office hours, and plenty of fun moments to connect, learn, and experiment. By the end, you’ll have your own haunted world—and maybe even a prize to show for it.
So, come as you are. Bring your vibe. Build your world. Make it spooky.
Submission Requirements
Each project submission must include:
- A scene deployed in an DCL World, publicly accessible (submit World Name)
- GitHub Repo with the scene code published under an open source license
- Must be publicly accessible
- Submission must include a direct link to the repository
- Use at least one AI tool and tell us which one you picked and how you used it in your build
- Add at least one public-facing content asset (e.g. livestream, X post, or reel) via link that showcases your Vibe Coding process
- Entries must be original and not used in past Decentraland competitions
- Respect the rules – submissions must not violate Decentraland’s Terms of Service.

Competition Structure
Phase 1 – Kickoff & Team Formation (Oct 13–15)
The hackathon opens with an AMA, the launch of the Hackathon Hub, and a dedicated Discord channel for participants. Introductory workshops help newcomers get started with DCL Worlds and AI tools. This is also the phase where participants form teams, connect with collaborators, and shape their first spooky concepts.
Phase 2 – Build & Workshops (Oct 15–27)
The Opening Party with MetaDJ marks the official start of the build phase. Over the following two weeks, participants create their spooky-themed Worlds, supported by hands-on workshops, office hours, and live events. Builders can share progress, gather feedback, and stay inspired through streams, brainstorms, and community activations.
Phase 3 – Showcase & Judging (Oct 28–Nov 8)
Once submissions close, projects are reviewed by the jury based on creativity, atmosphere, technical quality, and AI integration. During this period, the wider Decentraland community is encouraged to visit the hackathon Worlds, explore spooky builds, and engage with creators, making the showcase an interactive celebration.
Theme
The theme of the hackathon is: Bring Your Vibe but Make It Spooky!
From haunted escape rooms to eerie mini-games, mysterious storyscapes to ghostly art shows—anything is possible, as long as it’s built in DCL Worlds and incorporates AI tools in the building process.

Each participant can win in only one prize category. If a project qualifies for several, the organizers will decide which one applies.
*(All MANA to USD exchanges will be taken from the closing MANA value of Sunday, November 9, 2025. Payments will be made in MANA so an Ethereum wallet address is required.)
Judging Criteria
Projects will be evaluated on:
Immersion & Atmosphere Does your World create a convincing and engaging spooky vibe?
Creativity & Originality Freshness of the idea, strength of storytelling, and uniqueness of the concept.
Use of AI Tools How AI is integrated into visuals, interactivity, or the overall building process.
World Functionality Usability, interactivity, and technical quality of the deployment.
Process Visibility Livestreams, posts, or behind-the-scenes content that make the building journey transparent.
