About the Hackathon
Largest Hackathon In Northern Ireland
HackBelfast is Northern Ireland's largest student-led hackathon, bringing together 175+ students from across Ireland and the UK for a 24-hour overnight hackathon! We offer 3 tracks:1. Builder Track:For technical teams building software-first products with code. Strong submissions typically combine reliable engineering with clear user value and a credible path to real-world deployment.2. Non-Builder Track:The Non-Builder Track is a business-focused lane designed for participants with limited coding experience who want to build and ship strong solutions. The goal is simple: by the end of 24 hours, get as close to a paying customer as possible. You'll develop a problem statement, validate it, use Lovable to prototype, and reach out to customers during the hackathon.3. Quant Track:The Quant Track is a Virtu-led challenge that will be revealed on the day. Teams will receive historic market price data and a real financial-style problem to solve, with an emphasis on machine learning, quantitative thinking, and practical decision making. You will build a model/solution following Virtu's brief and submit it for scoring under a consistent evaluation method. You will also prepare a short write-up and presentation explaining your approach and results.
