Overview

Securing the Future of Web3 Hackathon Welcome to the "Securing the Future of Web3" Hackathon, a global event dedicated to advancing the security and resilience of the Web3 ecosystem. We're bringing together top developers, security researchers, cryptographers, and blockchain enthusiasts to tackle the complex security challenges facing the Web3 space and lay a solid foundation for a thriving decentralized future. About This Hackathon As Web3 technologies rapidly evolve and gain widespread adoption, their inherent security risks become increasingly apparent. From smart contract vulnerabilities to cross-chain attacks and decentralized identity security, safeguarding the future of Web3 is paramount. The "Securing the Future of Web3" Hackathon aims to spark innovative thinking, encourage participants to develop groundbreaking security solutions, and collectively build a more secure and trustworthy decentralized world. This hackathon is proudly launched and supported by the Web3 Security Alliance, ChainGuard Ventures, and the Global Blockchain Institute. We are committed to creating a collaborative platform where innovators can turn their ideas into reality and gain invaluable guidance and resources from industry leaders. Prize Pool & Opportunities We've established a generous prize pool totaling $50,000 USD, along with other valuable resources and support, to reward the most innovative and impactful security projects: - Cash Prizes: A total of $50,000 USD to support further project development and team building. - Incubation Support: Top-performing teams will have the opportunity to receive a three-month customized incubation support from ChainGuard Ventures, including project acceleration, market strategy guidance, and potential follow-on seed round investment opportunities. - Mentorship: Gain personalized guidance from leading experts, industry leaders, and senior developers in the Web3 security space. Our mentor team includes chief security researchers from renowned security auditing firms like CertiK and SlowMist, as well as core developers from the Ethereum Foundation. They will provide technical consultation, code reviews, and project direction advice. - Technical Resources: Free access to advanced security auditing tools, test network resources, and exclusive APIs. We provide licenses for professional tools such as Truffle Suite, Hardhat, and AI-powered smart contract vulnerability scanners to help you develop and test more efficiently. - Career Advancement: Network with reputable companies in the industry and expand your career development opportunities. Winning teams will have the chance to showcase their projects at prominent Web3 security summits and engage in in-depth discussions with potential employers or partners. Important Dates - Registration Opens: July 15, 2025 - Online Kick-off Ceremony & Keynote Speeches: August 15, 2025. Leading figures in Web3 security will deliver keynote speeches and provide detailed introductions to the challenge tracks. - Submissions Open: September 1, 2025 - Online Workshops & Q&A Sessions: September 15, 2025, and September 30, 2025. These sessions will offer technical guidance and answer questions regarding project development. - Submission Deadline: October 25, 2025, 23:59 EDT. Please ensure you submit your project code, demo video, and project documentation before the deadline. - Judging Period: October 26, 2025 - November 10, 2025. A panel of industry experts will rigorously evaluate all submitted projects. - Results Announcement & Award Ceremony: November 15, 2025. We will announce the winners and hold a grand award ceremony during a global live stream. Challenge Tracks This hackathon features the following core challenge tracks, encouraging participants to focus on key issues within Web3 security and providing examples of specific application scenarios: - Smart Contract Security & Auditing: Focus on developing innovative tools and methods to identify and fix vulnerabilities in smart contracts. For example: - Develop an AI-powered automated smart contract vulnerability scanner capable of detecting common vulnerabilities such as reentrancy attacks, arithmetic overflows, and improper access control. - Design and implement a formal verification framework to ensure the security of DeFi protocols. - Build a decentralized smart contract auditing platform that allows the community to participate in audits and earn incentives. - Decentralized Identity & Privacy: Explore the security of Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs), zero-knowledge proof applications, and innovative solutions for protecting user data privacy. For example: - Develop a privacy-preserving anonymous voting system based on zero-knowledge proofs that ensures transparency while protecting privacy. - Design a secure, interoperable DID solution for user authentication in Web3 applications. - Build a decentralized privacy protocol that allows users to control access to their personal data. - Cross-Chain Interoperability Security: Address security risks in cross-chain bridges, asset transfers, and multi-chain ecosystems by proposing and implementing reliable defense mechanisms. For example: - Design a novel, attack-resilient cross-chain bridge security model. - Develop a real-time monitoring system to detect and alert on anomalous behavior in cross-chain transactions. - Build a multi-chain asset security management solution to prevent asset theft during transfers between different blockchains. - Web3 Infrastructure Security: Focus on vulnerabilities at the infrastructure layer, such as decentralized storage, oracles, and node security, and build robust security defense systems. For example: - Develop a decentralized oracle security enhancement solution to prevent data poisoning or manipulation. - Design an intrusion detection system specifically for Web3 node networks. - Explore data integrity and access control security in decentralized storage solutions. - User Security & Education: Develop user-friendly security tools, enhanced wallet security features, and educational platforms to disseminate Web3 security knowledge and reduce user risk. For example: - Develop a security plugin integrated into Web3 wallets to identify malicious transactions or phishing websites. - Create a set of interactive Web3 security educational courses to help new users understand common security threats and prevention measures. - Design a decentralized reputation system to identify and flag malicious actors within the Web3 ecosystem. Participation Rules - Team Size: Teams are recommended to consist of 1-5 members; interdisciplinary collaboration is encouraged. - Originality: Submitted projects must be original works developed during this hackathon. Plagiarism or submission of pre-existing projects is strictly prohibited. - Intellectual Property: Participants retain intellectual property rights to their projects but agree that their project code may be publicly showcased after the competition for other developers to learn from and reference. - Code of Conduct: All participants must adhere to the hackathon's code of conduct, ensuring a fair, respectful, and collaborative environment. Any form of cheating, harassment, or inappropriate behavior will result in disqualification. - Submission Requirements: All projects must include runnable code, detailed project documentation (including technical architecture, problems addressed, and innovative points), and a clear project demonstration video (not exceeding 5 minutes). We look forward to your participation in securing the future of Web3!
