As a Staff Product Designer, you’ll embed directly with a cross-functional pod of product managers, engineers, and designers focused on the Breakout experience. You’ll collaborate closely with Kraken’s Pro and Trading teams to ensure consistency across trading surfaces while modernising Breakout’s core product.
This is a highly technical, fast-moving environment where design plays a critical role in turning complex trading systems into clear, intuitive, and high-performance user experiences
As a Staff Product Designer, you’ll lead the evolution and modernisation of Breakout’s end-to-end product experience.
You will:
Define scalable UX patterns for trading, accounts, KYC, and performance tracking
Lead the redesign and modernisation of Breakout’s core web and mobile experiences
Simplify complex financial and trading concepts into clear, fast, and legible interfaces
Drive product strategy alongside Product and Engineering, shaping what we build - not just how it looks
Establish design systems, standards, and best practices that scale across teams
Partner closely with Marketing to ensure seamless handoff and cohesive user journeys
Prototype and test quickly, balancing discovery with delivery
Raise the craft bar through hands-on execution and mentorship|
7+ years of product design experience, including time operating at a senior or staff level
Proven experience designing complex, data-heavy, or technical products (fintech, trading, SaaS, or similar)
Strong product thinking — able to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints
Experience leading large-scale redesigns or modernisation initiatives end-to-end
Deep understanding of UX systems, interaction design, and information architecture
Ability to design fast, high-signal interfaces where speed and clarity matter
Comfort working closely with engineers and understanding technical tradeoffs
Experience creating and scaling design systems and reusable patterns
Strong prototyping skills to validate ideas quickly
Clear communicator who can influence stakeholders and articulate rationale
A portfolio demonstrating ownership, craft, and measurable impact
Trading or crypto experience, or familiarity with financial markets and trading workflows
Experience working on professional tools or power-user products
Experience in startup or high-growth environments
Experience designing responsive or mobile-first trading experiences
