About the Role
The engineering team at Chainalysis is inspired by solving the hardest technical challenges and creating products that build trust in cryptocurrencies. We’re a global organization with teams in Denmark, UK, Canada, the USA, and Israel who thrive on the challenging work we do and doing it with other exceptionally talented teammates. Our industry changes every day and our job is to create user facing products supported by a flexible and scalable data platform allowing us to adapt to those rapid changes and bring value to our customers.
We're currently looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join our Hexagate team.
Hexagate builds cybersecurity products that protect on-chain and web3 assets. We sit at the intersection of cybersecurity and blockchains—an adversarial space where attacks are constant and response time matters. We’re building a real-time on-chain detection and response platform that combines ML-driven threat intelligence, custom detections, and an LLM-powered rules engine to protect on-chain assets.
What you'll lead:
Lead people and mission: build a strong team culture. Keep the group focused on outcomes, quality, and delivery.
Own a critical part of the platform: you’re accountable for a major system area (pipeline, detection, response, or LLM workflows) and its production health.
Plan and execute: turn strategy into milestones, make trade-offs, and deliver predictably without losing speed.
Make decisions: you’ll be expected to take calls under uncertainty. You’ll have backing and support to do it.
Communicate clearly: align product, engineering, and stakeholders. Set expectations early. Keep priorities transparent.
Raise the bar: coaching, hiring, performance feedback, and building an environment where strong engineers do their best work.
What success looks like
The team ships consistently. Quality stays high.
Reliability and performance improve over time.
Engineers grow. Ownership is clear. On-call is healthy.
Your system area scales with the business and adapts quickly to new needs.
We’re looking for candidates who have:
Experience leading an engineering team (or a strong tech lead ready to step into people leadership).
Strong backend/distributed systems foundation. You can guide architecture and execution.
Excellent prioritization and trade-off thinking (speed vs. correctness vs. cost).
Strong people skills: coaching, feedback, conflict resolution, and clear communication.
High ownership. You take responsibility when things go wrong and drive improvements.
You might also have:
Web3/blockchain experience or strong interest.
Real-time / streaming data platforms.
Security, fraud, risk, or other adversarial-domain experience.
Technologies we use:
Languages: Python, Rust, Go
Infra: Kubernetes, AWS, Grafana, Pulumi
Streaming & Messaging: NATS
Data stores: PostgreSQL, Redis, S3
