About the Role
The engineering team at Chainalysis is inspired by solving the hardest technical challenges and creating products that build trust in cryptocurrencies. We’re a global organization with teams in Denmark, UK, Canada, the USA, and Israel who thrive on the challenging work we do and doing it with other exceptionally talented teammates. Our industry changes every day and our job is to create user facing products supported by a flexible and scalable data platform allowing us to adapt to those rapid changes and bring value to our customers.
We're currently looking for a Software Architect to join our Hexagate team.
Hexagate builds cybersecurity products that protect on-chain and web3 assets. We sit at the intersection of cybersecurity and blockchains—an adversarial space where attacks are constant and response time matters. We’re building a real-time on-chain detection and response platform that combines ML-driven threat intelligence, custom detections, and an LLM-powered rules engine to protect on-chain assets.
What you'll lead:
Set the architecture vision: partner with Product and Engineering leadership to define how the platform evolves over the next 6–18 months.
Design for the moat: ensure Hexagate can monitor many blockchains fast and reliably, with sophisticated, flexible detection logic. This is an infrastructure and architecture problem at its core.
Turn strategy into systems: define boundaries, contracts, and patterns across ingestion, detection, response, and customer-facing workflows.
Scale with speed: improve velocity, performance, and scale while keeping the platform easy to change as business needs shift.
Lead through influence: we’re a small team. You’ll inspire engineers, drive alignment through design reviews, and raise the bar without slowing delivery.
What you'll build
A real-time, multi-chain monitoring platform built on high-throughput streaming and low-latency services.
A detection framework that supports multiple execution modes: monitoring DSL rules, statistical/anomaly models, ML signals, and threat intelligence.
Operable systems: observability standards, failure modes, replay/backfill strategies, and predictable deployments.
A platform that enables rapid addition of new chains, new monitor types, and new response workflows—without redesigning everything.
We’re looking for candidates who have:
Proven experience designing and evolving distributed systems in production.
Strong architecture judgment: trade-offs across correctness, latency, cost, and iteration speed.
Ability to align stakeholders and drive decisions across product and engineering.
Deep understanding of reliability and operability (SLOs, observability, incident learnings).
A hands-on mindset. You can still dive into code when needed.
You might also have:
Web3/blockchain experience or strong interest.
Real-time / streaming data platforms.
Security, fraud, risk, or other adversarial-domain experience.
Technologies we use:
Languages: Python, Rust, Go
Infra: Kubernetes, AWS, Grafana, Pulumi
Streaming & Messaging: NATS
Data stores: PostgreSQL, Redis, S3
