About the Role
WHY CONTROL EXISTS
Most crypto wallets are built for traders. Control is not.
Control is a private custody platform for digital wealth — built for families and individuals who think in generations, not market cycles. We are building the infrastructure where people entrust their digital legacy: multi-chain assets secured, organized, and accessible for the long term.
This is not another DeFi dashboard or exchange wrapper. This is digital wealth custody — where the bar for trust, reliability, and craftsmanship is measured in decades, not sprints.
WHY NOW
THE ROLE
We are looking for a Staff Full-Stack Engineer to be one of the foundational builders of Control v2. You will work primarily on the backend alongside the CTO — designing and building the APIs, services, and data systems that power wallet operations, transaction signing, asset custody, and portfolio management. When needed, you will step into the frontend to support integration and unblock delivery.
This is a role defined by ownership, not tickets. You will make architectural decisions that shape the platform for years. You will write code that protects real assets. You will work in a team small enough that your judgment directly determines the quality of the product.
📐💼📍
We are rebuilding Control from the ground up. The v1 platform proved the market. Now we are constructing v2 as a greenfield product — new architecture, new stack, new standards. This is the rarest kind of engineering opportunity: a product with real users and real market validation, but with the technical freedom of a blank canvas.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Design and build the backend APIs and services that power wallet management, transaction signing, asset tracking, and portfolio operations across multiple blockchains.
Own PostgreSQL schema design — modeling financial and blockchain data with the rigor and foresight that long-term custody demands. Write safe, type-aware migrations.
Build and maintain blockchain interaction layers for EVM chains, Solana, Bitcoin, Cosmos, and future networks.
Implement webhook handlers, background jobs, and async workflows for transaction monitoring, balance refreshes, and wallet lifecycle events.
Design systems that correctly handle concurrency, idempotency, failure recovery, and the edge cases that matter when real assets are at stake.
Write migration scripts to transition legacy v1 data into the new platform architecture cleanly and safely.
Support frontend integration by wiring React components to production API endpoints when it accelerates delivery.
Write automated tests across unit, API, integration, and E2E layers — with the coverage discipline that a custody platform requires.
Leverage AI tools as a daily force multiplier — for code generation, review, documentation, and problem-solving. At Control, AI is infrastructure, not a novelty.
Contribute to architectural decisions, technical standards, and engineering culture as a senior voice on a small team.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required
10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of technical leadership and system ownership.
8+ years working with TypeScript across both Node.js and React environments.
Product vision and user-centric mindset — you don't just build what's specced. You understand why a feature matters to the end user, you challenge requirements that don't serve them, and you advocate for the experience even when working deep in the backend. Every API response, every error message, every latency tradeoff has a user on the other end — and you never forget that.
Proven blockchain/Web3 backend experience — you have shipped production wallet infrastructure, custody systems, DeFi backends, blockchain data platforms, or similar. This is strongly preferred.
Strong backend API design skills in Node.js / TypeScript: validation, error handling, idempotency, and production-grade service architecture.
Deep experience with PostgreSQL — relational schema design, indexing strategies, query optimization, and performance tuning. Familiarity with ORMs or query builders (Drizzle, Prisma, TypeORM, or similar).
Demonstrated ability to design systems that handle concurrency, race conditions, async workflows, and failure recovery correctly.
Strong engineering fundamentals in defensive programming and production hardening. Comfort with clean architecture principles, design patterns, and modular system design.
Solid understanding of blockchain fundamentals: transaction lifecycle, gas estimation, RPC providers, signing flows, and multi-chain addressing.
Experience with background job processing and asynchronous systems.
High standards for code quality, testing, observability, and backend best practices.
Comfortable owning features end-to-end and operating autonomously in a small, remote team.
Highly Valued
Experience with AWS infrastructure in production (EC2, Lambda, ECS, RDS, S3, Terraform, CDK).
Familiarity with Dynamic.xyz, Fireblocks, or similar wallet infrastructure and custody providers.
Experience with Redis and caching strategies for high-throughput systems.
Knowledge of EIP-712 signing, ERC-20/ERC-721 standards, or Solana program interactions.
Experience with NFT ecosystems and smart contract integration — minting flows, metadata standards, marketplace interactions, or on-chain contract decoding.
Experience with modern Web3 libraries (ethers.js, viem, Solana Web3.js).
Active use of AI development tools as part of your daily workflow — not as an experiment, but as standard practice. You build custom AI workflows, integrate AI into your development pipeline, and continuously push what's possible.
Experience in fintech, private banking, or wealth management technology. Who Thrives Here
You think like a product engineer, not just a backend engineer. You ask "what does the user need?" before "what does the ticket say?"
You are drawn to the idea of building something that lasts — infrastructure that families trust for decades.
You default to action. You ship, you iterate, you own the outcome.
You treat AI as a collaborator. You actively push the boundaries of how AI tools can improve your engineering output.
You care about craft. You are not satisfied with "it works" — you want "it's right."
You are energized by greenfield work and the responsibility that comes with building foundations.
What We Offer
Fully remote — work from anywhere.
Greenfield architecture — you are not maintaining legacy code, you are replacing it. Small team, real ownership — your decisions shape the platform. Your code ships to
production. Your voice matters in every technical and product conversation.
A mission worth building for — custody infrastructure for digital wealth that people trust across generations.
AI-native engineering culture — AI tools are embedded in how we work, not bolted on as an afterthought.
Competitive compensation commensurate with Staff-level experience and impact.
